Emerging New Futures Research Approaches

To define human consciousness is a “playing field” of science philosophy, psychology (cognitive science) and medicine (neurology). Lombardo (2008) has presented a comprehensive definition of “future consciousness”. However, future consciousness hardly is a much-discussed issue of futures research. New knowledge is often built upon paradoxes or quasi-paradoxes. This a creative starting point of generating new knowledge. What are the “not-yet-seen” futures research approaches? What kind of hybrids of futures knowledge creation are to be anticipated? Which are the main fields of new societal needs calling for a contribution from futures researchers?
